With a new American shopping holiday on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, American Express has since 2010 inspired people to ‘shop small’ and support their local communities. ‘Small Business Saturday’ continues to be a successful initiative that truly makes a difference in the American neighborhoods.

Impact:

Huge sales increases for small businesses. Around $14.5 billion was spent at Small Business Saturday in 2015 and roughly 68% of the money spent at a local business stays in the local community. This is 20% more than the percentage of money spent at large businesses.
