IKEA Lamp commercial sees new light

Who hasn’t shed a tear to IKEA’s iconic Spike Jonze commercial from 2002 the Lamp, where an old lamp is abandoned besides a thrash can and gives way to a new? A swedish guy at the end delivering the toungue-in-cheek message: “Many of you feel bad for this lamp. That is because you’re crazy. It has no feelings! And the new one is much better.” Have a look at the old masterpiece.

But now the lamp has got a remake by IKEA Canada – and although we at Goodvertising really like the message, it does seem to be missing some dramatic hook. Judge for yourself.
